It’s day 35 of the Find Your Art Style Experiment. I was talking to Sandra earlier and saying that when I did the Inktense faces I do a pencil outline first. Then I checked a video for the first face I did using them and realised I didn’t on that one. So I decided to go straight in with the Inktense Blocks again this time.

Applying the first layer of Inktense Blocks

I found an image of a man to use as a starting point and then started applying the Inktense Blocks. It’s difficult to know how much or little to apply at first so I didn’t apply too much and decided to apply more after adding my first lot of water.

And talking of water, for some reason I got a bit of kitchen roll out to use with the water and placed it on my lap like it was a napkin and I was about to have lunch. I must have been hungry or something. Anyway still starving I continued

Adding More Colour and Water

It definitely needed more colour after the first layer so I added the colour on a little heavier and applied water again.

Drawing the Character

drawing the character

Once I was happy with the colour I decide to add a little character as I had done before. The man had quite a sullen face, I think they call it “resting bitch face” – A bit like Sandra’s face when she is doing Techie stuff. I am just kidding, but testing to see if she’s listening, she’ll kill me later. So for the character, I thought that even though he is sullen on the outside maybe he’s smiling on the inside. So I made a happy dancing little character and added the words smiling on the inside.

I am not so keen on this drawing as some of the others. I struggled a bit with the amount of Inktense to apply. I am sure that will get easier with more practice. I will see you with another drawing on Monday
