It’s day 39 of the Find Your Art Style Experiment. Still unsure what to do with the backgrounds to my abstract faces I took Belinda Larmour’s suggestion in the comments to look back at mark making in Day 10.
I had completely forgotten that it wasn’t just acrylic paint I had used but also acrylic ink.
Creating Backgrounds
I got my paints and inks out again and taped up a few squares of mixed media paper ready to make potential backgrounds. I created three and much preferred the one just using acrylic inks so decided to use that.
Colouring the Face with Neocolor
I had decided I wanted to make the face a lot larger in the space to see how that worked, so I drew a rough outline of a face in pencil and then started using the Neocolour. Once I had the colour down I smoothed it out using water
Adding Lines with Stabilo All Pencil
Once the Neocolor was dry, I drew into it on one side with a Stabilo All pencil. I like the background effect, but am not sure if have gone to cartoony with the face. I keep waiting for the face to start dancing to Saturday Night Fever. If you’re old enough you will know what I mean.
I am going to sleep on this and see what sort of face I want to draw tomorrow.
