It’s day 47 of the Find Your Art Style Experiment. Today I decided to draw a woman and a dog. I hadn’t tried combining an animal and person in this style before so thought it would be interesting to try out.

Drawing the Woman and the Dog

I roughly sketched things out in pencil first. Then I started applying the Neocolor 2 wax pastels.

Once I was happy with the colour I smoothed it out with water and then went back into a few areas with Neocolor.

Adding Lines and a Character to the Image

I drew some lines on the face with a Black Stabilo All Pencil and then after testing it digitally I drew a character around the eye with the Neocolor and added some strong black marks around the page. Then with the Stabilo All Pencil, I drew some very loose dog faces in the background.

I like the overall look of this bit of art, but I perhaps should have made her look a bit happier. She looks like I do when I get a boring design job in.
